Dear all,
What an amazing week it has just passed for the candidates of the First and Second Level Master Courses in Protection Against CBRNe events.
They had the chance also to have some joint activities!
The First and Second Level MasterCBRNe candidates were together for the lecture of Prof. Stephen Johnson from Cranfield University and Lt.Col. for the UK army. Steve just discussed Investigation, giving a deep inside series of lectures about definitions, methodology, case studies, and lessons learned.
The First Level Master CBRNe has then continued the week with Dr. Patrick Wengler from the PhD school of Industrial Engineering, University of Rome Tor Vergata who continues to teach (with a practical part 2) about investigation related to chemical risks. Then they had Dr. Fanny Ewann from INTERPOL expert in bioterrorism followed by Dr. Massimo Pedemonte, Bomb Squad Commander, and former Italian Police Officer. The first level concluded the week with a visit to the amazing company Raset Formazione Ricerca Sviluppo with some practical forensic training organized and coordinated by our friend Dr. Alessandro de Bernardis.
The Second Level continued the week with a practical lecture by LARIMART, an international leader in CBRNe DPI. The candidates had the chance to wear a mask and full suit to understand the difficulties in operational fields that are not only technical but also practical. We want to thank Dr. Alessandro Bruno for this activity. We had then Dr. Davide Cutrino for the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Dr. Massimo Pedemonte as well before passing to the communication part with an amazing lecture of Dr. Luca Rotondi (Rome Municipality expert in emergencies and President of Emergenza Sordi) with a lecture on how to assist deaf and fragile persons during a CBRNe emergency (Thank you, Luca). We had Dr. Nicola Simone (Infodemic Manager of WHO and senior expert of CREA - Italian Ministry of Agriculture) and Dr. Antonio Parrilla (Infodemic Manager of WHO and senior expert of Italian Prime Ministry Office) to talk about communication techniques and aspects related to emergencies and crises.
Friday afternoon was the time for our focus point time. Our guest this time was Dr. Giovanni Socci who led a joint activity for the First and Second Level MasterCBRNe and the MasterMENTS. The focus point was on the big projects and large contracts and their implications on safety and security. Dr. Socci gave a deep insight on this with many case studies and lessons learned and an intense Q&A with the audience, Thank you, Giovanni!
We want to thank all the lecturers and the candidates and the members of the Directive Board.
