
On May 12, the prestigious Scuola Interforze per la Difesa NBC in Rieti hosted the TITAN Workshop – Tecnologie, Intelligence e TAttiche per la tutela delle risorse Nazionali, a high-level event organized by the Master CBRNe of the University of Rome Tor Vergata in cooperation with the Scuola NBC and with the valued support of Fondazione Med-Or, HESAR, private sector leaders, and the Master MENTS.
The day opened with institutional greetings from Gen. B. Giorgio Guariglia, Commander of the NBC School, and Prof. Andrea Malizia, Director of the Master CBRNe. Their remarks emphasized the strategic relevance of education, inter-agency synergy, and public-private cooperation in countering emerging threats.

Prefetto Giovanni Caravelli, Director of AISE, addressed the critical evolution of Intelligence and Risk Management in today’s geopolitical climate, particularly in the face of CBRN hazards.

On. Marco Minniti, President of Fondazione Med-Or, emphasized how innovation, cooperation, and geostrategy are fundamental pillars for security and development in a globalized context.

Gen. Alberto Manenti, former AISE Director, offered a Lectio Magistralis on the old and new challenges in intelligence regarding CBRNe safety, underlining the necessity of adaptive strategies.

Amm. Carlo Massagli, President of SOGIN, discussed nuclear site safety within the broader framework of national security, highlighting critical infrastructure protection.
The event also showcased Short Talks from leading industry stakeholders including BMD, CAEN Sys, Cristanini, Larimart, NBC Sys, Thales, and UTILIS demonstrating how private companies are pivotal in developing cutting-edge solutions for defense and resilience.

The workshop concluded with a virtual tour of NUBICH, followed by closing reflections on the rich insights and forward-looking strategies discussed.
This initiative reaffirms the Master CBRNe’s commitment to building robust knowledge networks across academia, government, defense, and industry, reinforcing Italy’s leadership in CBRNe risk management and security innovation.
