Addressing the Anthrax Threat: A Synthesis of Clinical Management and Public Health Priorities

A new high-level scientific paper entitled “Addressing the anthrax threat: A synthesis of clinical management and public health priorities” has been published in the peer-reviewed journal Infectious Disease and Immunity, providing a comprehensive and integrated overview of anthrax as a persistent biological threat.

The article offers a structured synthesis of current knowledge on anthrax, bridging clinical management, public health preparedness, surveillance systems, and response coordination. Particular emphasis is placed on early diagnosis, therapeutic strategies, vaccination policies, inter-agency cooperation, and the role of public health infrastructures in mitigating both natural and deliberate anthrax events.

By combining medical, epidemiological, and preparedness perspectives, the paper contributes to strengthening national and international capacities for biological risk management, fully aligned with contemporary CBRNe preparedness frameworks.

✨ Special acknowledgment is extended to the Principal Investigator, Gian Marco Ludovici, for his scientific leadership and coordination of this important contribution to biological security and public health resilience.
