On 11 February 2026, the University of Rome Tor Vergata, in cooperation with the Italian Ministry of Defence, will host the high-level institutional event “University of Rome Tor Vergata and Ministry of Defence: Together Against CBRNe Threats”.
The event will take place at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Room Montalcini (Building A, Ground Floor), from 10:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., and will be open access.
The initiative highlights the strategic importance of cooperation between academia and defence in addressing Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and explosive (CBRNe) risks, with particular attention to education, research, and operational readiness.
The program includes a Lectio Magistralis delivered by Lieutenant General Giovanni Maria Iannucci, Commander of the Italian Joint Operations Command (COVI), together with institutional remarks by Full Professor Nathan Levialdi Ghiron, Rector of the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
A central moment of the day will be the renewal of the Institutional Cooperation Agreement between the 7th CBRN Regiment “Cremona” of the Italian Army and the University of Rome Tor Vergata, involving Professor Prof. Roberto Bei, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Professor Prof. Luigi Tonino Marsella, Dean of the Department of Biomedicine and Prevention, and Colonel Dario De Masi, Commander of the 7th CBRN Regiment “Cremona”.
The session will be chaired by Full Professor Prof. Andrea Malizia, Director of the International Master Courses in Protection against CBRNe Events.
This institutional day also coincides with the final day of frontal lectures of the 14th Edition of the Second-Level International Master in Protection against CBRNe Events and with the conclusion of the first year of activities of the 9th Edition of the First-Level International Master in Protection against CBRNe Events, further underlining the strong integration between academic training and institutional cooperation.
