We are pleased to announce that Dr. Alba Iannotti, from the University of Rome Tor Vergata, took part in the Joint Activity of the European project eNOVAtion (https://www.enovation-project.eu/) held in Tashkent, the beautiful capital of Uzbekistan, from October 7 to 9, 2025.
The event was organized in close collaboration with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan and gathered representatives from European and Uzbek institutions working together to strengthen cooperation in emergency preparedness and response.
The opening session was inaugurated by the Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who warmly welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of fostering collaboration between European and non-European institutions to enhance resilience and safety capacities at the international level.
The meeting continued with remarks by Dr. Ives Van Haute, Coordinator of the eNOVAtion Project, followed by a series of technical presentations from experts representing both eNOVAtion partner institutions and the Uzbek national authorities.
During the two technical days hosted at the Ministry of Emergency Situations, participants attended oral presentations, live demonstrations, and practical sessions showcasing advanced equipment and technologies used for emergency response operations.
On the final day, the delegation traveled to Chirchiq, where a full-scale field exercise was conducted at the MAXAM-Chirchiq industrial facility. The scenario simulated the release of ammonia from a rail tank car, testing the entire emergency response system of MAXAM-Chirchiq. The exercise involved the Firefighters, medical personnel, decontamination teams, and first responders operating on site, demonstrating impressive coordination and operational capability.
Beyond the operational and technical activities, the event provided a valuable opportunity for experts from different countries to meet, exchange experiences, and discuss future collaborations in the field of CBRNe preparedness and response.
A special acknowledgment goes to Prof. Pasquale Gaudio, Principal Investigator of the eNOVAtion Project for the University of Rome Tor Vergata, for his leadership and scientific guidance throughout the initiative.
The University of Rome Tor Vergata and the CBRNe Master Programmes continue to actively contribute to European and international projects aimed at enhancing knowledge, preparedness, and interoperability in the face of CBRNe challenges.
